Idescat presents the first update of the Social Welfare and Progress Indicators (INDBPS). 16 indicators are updated with data from 2017 corresponding basically to the areas of Living and working conditions, Education and Inclusion, rights and participation.
The Social Welfare and Progress Indicators are made up of a total of 52 indicators. They were published for the first time in September 2017 at the instigation of the Directorates-General of Budgets and Economic Analysis of the Ministry of the Vice-presidency and of the Economy and Finance and by Idescat, in accordance with Resolution 17/XI of the Parliament of Catalonia.
The production of the Social Welfare and Progress Indicators also responds to the widely expressed social and political concerns regarding the limitations of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the sole indicator for measuring welfare and social progress.
There will be another update of these indicators in June 2018.
