The total expenditure made by foreign tourists whose principal destination was Catalonia stood at 1,156 million euro for March 2018, which represented a year-over-year increase of 9.3%.
By country of habitual residence, United States and United Kingdom stood out with a total expenditure of 147 and 102 million euros (year-over-year increases of 8.1% and 8.6%) respectively and France with a total expenditure of 125 million euros (decrease of 1.4%).
The average daily expenditure per person was 205 euros, a figure that represented a year-over-year increase of 4.4%. The main statistical items correspond to expenditure on international transport (330 million) and on activities (245 million). Note that in 2018 Easter was celebrated between March and April, while in 2017 it took place in April.
The statistics on Foreign Tourism Expenditure for Catalonia provides monthly and annual information on expenditure, average expenditure per person and the average daily expenditure per person for foreign tourists whose primary destination of their trip is Catalonia.

It is also publishing the year-over-year variation of each variable. The data reference period is considered to be the month the trip ends, regardless of its length.
