The Industrial Products Price Index (base 2015=100) increased by 1.2% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in May 2018. For large industrial sectors, all product prices increased: intermediate goods (2.4%), equipment goods (1.1%) and consumer goods (0.3%).
On the other hand, by industrial divisions, the most significant increases in prices were registered in the metallurgy; manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (9.2%) and in the manufacture of beverages (4.1%), while the highest decreases were registered in food industries (−0.8%) and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products and repair and installation of machinery and equipment (both by a −0.2%).
During the same period the industrial price index increased by 2.7% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The industrial price index (IPRI) is a trend indicator which measures the monthly evolution of the prices of products manufactured by industry in their initial stage of commercialization. Upon the basis of the data provided by the INE, Idescat performs a tabulation for large industrial sectors.
