Social Welfare and Progress Indicators. 2018. Advance

Idescat has updated the Social Welfare and Progress Indicators (INDBPS). It provides the data for 2018 for 18 indicators corresponding to the areas of Living Conditions and Work, Education, Environment, Inclusion, Rights and Participation and Leisure and Culture. Similarly, the data from previous years for 10 other indicators are completed and updated.

These indicators, made up of a total of 52, were published for the first time in September 2017 at the instigation of the Directorates-General of Budgets and Economic Analysis of the Ministry of the Vice-presidency and of the Economy and Finance and by Idescat, in accordance with Resolution 17/XI of the Parliament of Catalonia.

The production of the Social Welfare and Progress Indicators also responds to the widely expressed social and political concerns regarding the limitations of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the sole indicator for measuring welfare and social progress.

There will be another update of this statistic in June 2019.
