Labour Cost Statistics. Q1 2019

The labour cost per worker and month stood at 2,745.34 euros in Catalonia as of the first quarter of 2019, 2.9% higher than the same quarter in 2018. With regards to the specific sectors, the labour cost per worker and month in the ICT sector showed the highest figure and stood at 3,852.08 euros, 0.9% less than one year ago, while the culture sector stands at 3,379.13 euros, with a year-on-year increase of 4.1%. The tourism sector grows 4.2% compared to the same quarter of 2018 with a labor cost of 2,094.01 euros per worker and month. In the tourism sector, the highest labor cost is recorded by the tourism transport subsector (3,626.88 euros). In the sector of culture, the audiovisual sub-sector and advertising is the one that records the highest labor cost (3,930.27 euros).

The wage cost per worker and month increased by 1.9% in Catalonia, totaling 2,018.40 euros. The wage cost in the ICT sector was 2,853.03 euros, and in the culture and tourism sectors 2,574.22 euros and 1,542.57 euros respectively.

Per effective hour, the labour cost was 20.10 euros, and the wage cost 14.78 euros. In the analysed specific sectors, ICT sector had the highest effective wage cost per hour (18.43 euros), followed by the cultural (18.10 euros) and tourism (12.93 euros) sectors.

Regarding the number of job vacancies , this was 22,617, 12.4% less than a year ago. The services sector accounts for 87.6% of the vacancies.
