Announcement of the eighth Student Contest on Applied Statistics (UAB-Idescat)

VIII Student Applied Statistics Contest

The eight edition of the Student Contest on Applied Statistics has been unveiled, a competition that is organised annually by the Statistical Institute of Catalonia and the Statistics Service at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and which is designed to foster interest and research spirit in the field of statistics at universities in the Spanish state. The competition is systematically included in the set of educational and promotional actions that Idescat has been promoting since 2003 and constitutes the main action addressed at future professional or users of public statistics.

This year the competition is offering three prizes: the Student Award for the best work, the Almirall Award for the best biostatistical work and the Award for the most original work. The limit for sending in work is September 27, and on the basis of the verdict of the Jury formed by members of the Statistics Service at the UAB, the Statistical Institute of Catalonia, SAS Institute Inc. and Almirall the prizes will be presented on October 20, 2010, as part of the World Statistics Day celebrations in Catalonia.
