In Catalonia there were 7,655 affiliates of foreign companies in 2023, which had a turnover of 176,923 million euros, 8.4% more than the previous year. Six countries of origin generated 70% of the economic weight of these affiliates.
Alella, with 35,425 euros, was the municipality with the highest income per inhabitant in 2023, followed by Matadepera and Sant Just Desvern. Income per inhabitant increased in all counties, led by L'Alt Camp (12.8%).
The expenditure of companies in innovative activities made in Catalonia reached 6,058.1 million euros in 2024, 12.1% higher than 2022.
The Government has approved the new Decree on the organisation and functioning of Idescat with the aim of modernising its structure, strengthening its leadership and adapting it to the new challenges of data production and governance.
