Survey on Intermediate Consumption. Fieldwork 2023
Idescat and the General Directorate for Language Policy of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia are performing the Survey on Language Uses of the Population 2018. This survey, conducted every five years, is performed on a sample of the population of Catalonia aged 15 and above.
The internet survey can be completed starting in March 2018 to reduce costs and minimize any inconvenience for citizens. The survey will later be available in the telephone and face-to-face formats, if a citizen prefers either of them.
The participants in the sample have received a letter of introduction to the operation by post, with a username and password to permit access to the online survey.

Legislation on statistical confidentiality and mandatory replies
The information requested is for drawing up official statistics. The Administration and public officials who use this information are obliged by law to maintain statistical confidentiality, in other words, not to disclose it in any way and not to use it for any other purpose than the drawing up of official statistics. All citizens, entities and institutions are required by law to provide the information requested, and this information must be complete and truthful (articles 38 and 39 of Law 23/1998, of 30th December 1998, on statistics in Catalonia).
Idescat is conducting the Survey on Intermediate Consumption 2021, the main objective of which is to gain a better understanding of the relationships between the different sectors of activity and their capacity to generate wealth for the Catalan economy. In this sense, the sectors of activity are analysed in relation to purchases, expenditure on external services, investment and other variables.
From October 2023, sample holders can now fill in the online questionnaire. Before that, they have received a letter of presentation of the statistics by e-mail, with the user name and password that allows them to access the online questionnaire.

Legislation on statistical confidentiality and compulsory response
The information requested is for the compilation of official statistics. The Administration and all personnel who use this information are obliged by law to observe statistical confidentiality, i.e. not to disclose it in any way and not to use it for any purpose other than the compilation of official statistics. All citizens, entities and institutions are obliged by law to provide the information requested, and this information must be complete and truthful (art. 38 and 39 of Law 23/1998, of 30 December, on statistics in Catalonia).
Failure to comply with this legal obligation, either by refusing to provide the required information or by not providing it in the established time and manner, constitutes an administrative offence punishable by law.
In this regard, it is recalled that very serious infringements can be sanctioned with fines of 3,005.07 to 30,050.61 €, serious infringements with fines of 300.52 to 3,005.06 € and minor infringements with fines of 60.10 to 300.51 € (art. 58 and 60 of Law 23/1998).
