Methodological note

Definition of concepts

Pumping consumption
Quantity of energy consumed in the pumping phase.
Auxiliary consumption
Own consumption of electrical energy production centres.
Gross production of electricity
Production of electrical energy measured in generator terminals. Includes auxiliary consumption.
Available production of electricity
Net production minus pumping consumption.
Net electricity production
Gross production minus auxiliary consumption.

Methodological aspects

The Catalan Institute for Energy (ICAEN) is the body of the Generalitat de Catalunya responsible for developing and implementing the Catalan energy policy, especially in the field of energy saving and efficiency and the development of renewable energies.

The ICAEN acts in many areas of the world of energy and, among other functions, produces the energy statistics for Catalonia.
