Methodological note

Definition of concepts

School sports games (JEEC)
Program planned and directed by the Presidencial Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia through the Catalan Sports Council and the Department of Education, whose main objective is to promote a model of education and school sport participation also include recreational and competitive aspects. The recipients are children and young people in Catalonia who represent the school, the school sports partnership or association of parents of students who are enrolled in school, or other entities registered or assigned the Express sporting organizations Catalan Sports Council.

Methodological aspects

This sport should allow maximum participation among the school population, especially of secondary school students and new students, and to make it compatible with the transmission of values and civic education. Divided by age groups according to the primary and secondary cycles, considering that the engine of this sport should be the school. This program envisages actions to foster an active participation of more women in sports.

The sports councils and federations clubs provide data and licenses, as sports licenses processed by the sports organizations (Decree 58/2010 ., dated 4th May 2010, sports organizations in Catalonia, Official Journal No. 6139, 31.05.2012).

The data on School Sports are provided by the Union of Sports Councils of Catalonia for the Catalan Sports Council, who also monitor other programmes, such as that of Technology for Sport and High Performance.
