Methodological note

The registration of industrial vehicles is a traditional investment indicator that is closely linked the economic cycle in companies.

These statistics are drawn up using the provincial information for vehicle registration issued by the Directorate General of Traffic. The vehicles are classified in:

  • Lorries and vans: vehicles destined to the transport of goods (it is excluded the motorcycle of three wheels with weight not lower than 400 kg).
  • Buses: vehicles destined to the transport of travellers with more capacity than nine vacancies, included the driver. It is excluded from this concept the trolley bus: the vehicle connected to an electrical line that does not circulate through rails.
  • Private cars: four wheel vehicle destined to the transport of travellers with maximum capacity of nine people, included the driver.
  • Motorcycles: two wheel vehicle, with or without sidecar, understand it as the passenger compartment laterally to the motorcycle. Included also the cars for disabled people.
  • Industrial vehicles: vehicle capacitated to drag a semi-trailer, without taking into account the farming tractors.
  • Others: vehicles not included in the previous categories, excluded the farming ones. Before 1998, trucks were included in this category.
