Methodological note
The data for births in the population growth is prepared by the Catalan Institute of Statistics (Idescat), while the Ministry of Health prepares the death statistics in collaboration with the INE.
The total crude growth rate is the quotient between the variation in the population groups, expressed as the difference between the number of initial and final inhabitants of a period, and the population halfway through the period. It is expressed in so many per thousand.
The crude natural population change rate is the quotient between the natural balance, expressed as the difference between the number of births and the number of deaths, in a determinate year and the population halfway through the period. It is expressed in so many per thousand.
The crude rate of migratory growth is the quotient between the migratory balance, expressed as the difference between the number of immigrations and the number of emigrations in a given year, and the population halfway through the period. It is expressed in so many per thousand.
From 2012 onwards, it includes all events involving residents in Catalonia who have been registered in other autonomous communities.
From 2012 onwards, the data is reported annually in two phases: the provisional data, based on events concerning residents registered with civil registries of Catalonia, and the definitive data, with events concerning all residents (including those registered with civil registries in other autonomous communities).Idescat draws up these statistics in collaboration with the INE, based on the delivery records of the Civil Registry.
You can get more information about these statistics in the methodology.
