Methodological note
Tourist accommodation,are disaggregated into hotel establishments, camp sites and rural tourism establishments, according to their category and capacity.
Definition of concepts:
- Hotel place: Place occupied by a person in a hotel establishment. The number of places equals the number of fixed beds in the establishment. Double beds are counted as two places; supplementary beds are not taken into account.
- Campsite place: Space occupied by a person in a tent, mobile shelter or caravan.
Since 2011, in accordance with article 49 of Decree 183/2010 of 23 November on tourist accommodation establishments, the accommodation capacity of a campsite in terms of places has been obtained by multiplying the total number of camping units by three. This change entails an interruption in the series preventing year-over-year comparison, as the number of places at a campsite was obtained in previous years by multiplying the total number of camping units by two and a half.
