The population of Catalonia increased by 111,895 inhabitants in 2024 and as of 1 January 2025 it stood at 8,124,126 inhabitants, according to data from the Population Census. In relative terms, in 2024 the population grew by 1.4%.

317,912 people took up residence in Catalonia in 2023. Of these, 86.9% were born abroad, 6.0% in the rest of Spain and 7.1% in Catalonia.

35.6% of the population aged 15 or over in Catalonia had attained tertiary education as of 1 January 2023, and the proportion for primary education or lower was 13.4%.
