Industrial Production Index. 03/2023

The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days increased by 1.4% year-over-year in Catalonia in March 2023. By large industrial sectors, capital goods increased by 10.3% and consumer goods by 1.4%, while energy decreased by 4.0% and intermediate goods by 2.1%.

In the same period, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy and is not adjusted by working days) increased by 2.1% compared with the same month the previous year and the Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) by 1.4% year-over-year. By large industrial sectors, capital goods (9.8%) and consumer goods (1.3%) increased, while energy (−4.0%) and intermediate goods (−2.1%) decreased.

Moreover, by industrial divisions the most significant increases were registered in electrical, electronic and optical materials and equipment (21.3%) and manufacture of transport material (21.2%). By contrast, chemical industries (−1.8%) decreased.
