Statistics on Foreign Tourism. 05/2023

The number of foreign tourists who arrived in Catalonia stood at 1.8 million in May 2023, compared to 1.5 million in May 2022, a figure that represents a year-over-year increase of 21.7%. By country of habitual residence, the countries from which the majority of tourists came were France, the United States and United Kingdom, with 393.1, 198.0 and 195.3 thousand tourists, respectively.

On the other hand, by reason for traveling, leisure trips, trips for other reasons (health, studies, family...) and business trips have a tourist influx with 1.6 million, 135.0 thousand and 83.4 thousand tourists, respectively.

As for the principal type of accommodation, hotels and similar have an influx with 1.3 million tourists, and the accommodation in rented homes with 211.9 thousand tourists.
