Business Confidence Indicators. Q3/2023

The Harmonized Business Confidence Index (HBCI) for Catalonia increased by 1.2% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter.

By sectors of activity, accommodation and food service activities and transport (4.6%) is the sector that most increased business confidence, followed by trade (2.5%) and other services (1.4%). On the other hand, confidence fell in industry and construction in the same period (−1.2%, in both cases).

In relation to the same quarter of the previous year, the index increased by 0.2%. The increase in business confidence in trade stood out (3.8%), while construction and other services showed more moderate increases (1.3% and 0.2%, respectively). On the contrary, the accommodation and food service activities and transport (−3.0%) and industry (−1.6%) showed a loss of confidence compared to the third quarter of 2022.
