Statistics on Foreign Tourism. 08/2023

The number of foreign tourists who arrived in Catalonia stood at 2.1 million in August 2023, compared to 1.9 million in August 2022, a figure that represents a year-over-year increase of 11.7%. By country of habitual residence, the countries from which the majority of tourists came were France, the United Kingdom and Germany, with 562.0, 260.3 and 173.1 thousand tourists, respectively.

By reason for travelling, leisure trips, trips for other reasons (health, studies, family...) and business trips had a tourist influx of 2.0 million, 63.2 thousand and 29.7 thousand tourists, respectively.

As for the principal type of accommodation, hotels and similar had an influx of 1.7 million tourists, and rented homes accommodated 66.4 thousand tourists.
