Statistics on Salaried Employment and Self-Employment according to Social Security Affiliations. 09/2023. Provisional data

The number of affiliations to the General Social Security Scheme with location of the contribution account in Catalonia increased by 4.2% year-over-year in September 2023 and stood at 3,053,255 affiliations, according to provisional data. By counties, those with the highest relative increases were El Pallars Jussà (27.8%), El Baix Penedès (26.5%) and El Solsonès (15.6%). On the other hand, El Moianès (−14.8%), La Segarra (−1.7%) and El Berguedà (−1.7%) recorded the largest relative decreases. The largest increases in absolute terms were recorded in El Barcelonès (37,000 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (25,480 affiliations) and El Baix Llobregat (11,910 affiliations), while El Moianès (−440 affiliations), La Segarra (−165 affiliations) and El Berguedà (−135 affiliations) recorded the largest losses of affiliations. It should be taken into account that the variation rates are influenced by administrative changes made this quarter to the contribution accounts that affect the Public Administration and Education sectors and especially in the counties of El Baix Penedès and El Pallars Jussà; moreover, these changes are in addition to the territorial changes resulting from the creation of El Lluçanès and the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà, which affects the counties of El Solsonès and La Segarra.

The number of self-employed workers carrying out economic activities in Catalonia rose by 1.0% year-over-year to 560,655 affiliations. The counties that have recorded the greatest increase in relative terms are El Solsonès (12.1%, affected by the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà), Aran (3.4%) and La Selva (3.1%). In absolute numbers, the growth was led by El Barcelonès (2,320 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (415 affiliations) and La Selva (380 affiliations). On the other hand, La Segarra (−13.7%, affected by the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà), Osona (−4.3%, affected by the creation of El Lluçanès) and La Ribera d'Ebre (−2.3%) are the counties with the largest relative decreases and Osona (−580 affiliations), La Segarra (−290 affiliations) and El Bages (−60 affiliations) have done so in absolute terms.

The number of contribution accounts to the General Social Security Scheme in Catalonia increased by 0.8% year-over-year (1,987 contribution accounts) to 246,953 accounts. The counties that have led the growth in relative numbers are L'Alta Ribagorça (5.8%), El Pallars Sobirà (4.7%) and Aran (3.7%). In absolute numbers, El Barcelonès (864 contribution accounts), El Tarragonès (183 accounts) and El Baix Empordà (174 accounts) are the counties that have recorded the greatest growth. On the other hand, Osona (−180 contribution accounts, affected by the creation of El Lluçanès) and La Noguera (−40 accounts) are the counties that have recorded the largest decreases in absolute terms.
