Business Confidence Indicators. Q4/2023

The Harmonized Business Confidence Index (HBCI) for Catalonia decreased by 2.2% in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter.

All sectors of activity show a worsening of business confidence compared to the previous quarter. Trade is the activity sector with the highest decrease (−3.2%), followed by accommodation and food service activities and transport (−2.5%), other services (−2.2%), construction (−1.8%) and industry (−1.4%).

In relation to the same quarter of the previous year, the business confidence index increased by 1.5%, with the highest increases in trade (2.7%) and industry (2.6%). Accommodation and food service activities and transport, construction and other services show more moderate increases (1.2%, 0.9% and 0.7%, respectively).
