Business Confidence Indicators. Q1/2024

The Harmonized Business Confidence Index (HBCI) for Catalonia increased by 0.4% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter.

By sectors of activity, business confidence rose in construction (2.1%), industry (1.4%) and other services (0.7%). On the other hand, confidence fell in accommodation and food service activities and transport (−1.0%) and trade (−1.5%).

In relation to the same quarter of the previous year, the business confidence index increased by 2.2%, with the highest increases in accommodation and food service activities and transport (4.5%) and other services (3.1%), followed by construction (1.8%) and industry (1.3%). Trade remained practically stable (0.1%) compared to a year ago.
