Tourism of Residents in Catalonia. Q4/2023 and 2023

The number of trips made by Catalans increased by 8.5% in the fourth quarter 2023. People residing in Catalonia made 6.7 million trips, involving 22.8 million overnight stays, an average stay being 3.4 nights, and an expenditure of 2,137 million euros.

The expenditure of Catalans on trips in the fourth quarter came to 319 euros per person, which represents an increase of 11.7% in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2022, an expenditure of 94 euros per day, which represents an increase of 3.2%.

The number of day trips made by people residing in Catalonia stood at 8.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, 12.0% less than in the same quarter of the previous year.

In 2023 the number of trips made by Catalans increased by 0.9%, the total amount of expenditure by Catalan travellers grew by 10.6% and the daily average expenditure per person by 5.0%. According to the main destination of the trip, 57.0% of the trips of the Catalans were made in Catalonia (with an annual decrease of 8.2%); 26.6% went to the rest of the State (increase of 19.6%) and 16.4% to foreign countries (increase of 10.4%).
