Statistics on Hotel Activity. 03/2024

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 18,7% year-over-year in March 2024, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays increased by 19.3%; of these, Catalan travellers increased by 27.6% and travellers from the rest of Spain increased by 11.3% and year-over-year. Foreign tourism overnight stays increased by 18.4% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from United States, France and Germany presented the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (306.5, 274.4 and 235.5 thousand, respectively), and registered positive year-over-year variations by 21.5%, 10.3% and 32.3%, respectively.

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Barcelona and Costa Brava were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (1.9 million, 568.6 thousand and 488.8 thousand, respectively) and registered positive year-over-year variations of 6.5%, 18.7% and 35.4%, respectively.

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments grew by 19.3% year-over-year, with an increase in domestic tourism by 18.2% and a increase in foreign tourism by 20.1%.
