Statistics on Hotel Activity. 11/2024

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 1.5% year-over-year in November 2024, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays increased by 8.6%: of these, those of Catalan travellers increased by 6.0% and travellers from the rest of Spain by 11.5% year-over-year. Foreign tourism overnight stays decreased by 1.4% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from United States, France and the United Kingdom show the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (250.9, 218.6 and 130.9 thousand, respectively), with a positive year-over-year variation in United States (1.6%) and negative in France (−5.1%) and in the United Kingdom (−13.3%).

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Barcelona and Costa Brava were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (1.7 million, 415.0 and 257.0 milers thousand, respectively) and Costa Barcelona registered positive year-over-year variations of 9.7%, while Barcelona and Costa Brava decreased a 1.3% and 4.4%, respectively.

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments increased by 4.1% year-over-year, with an increase in domestic tourism by 7.0% and in foreign tourism by 2.4%.
