Statistics on Salaried Employment and Self-Employment according to Social Security Affiliations. 12/2024. Provisional data
The number of affiliations to the Social Security General Regime with location of the contribution account in Catalonia increased by 2.5% year-over-year in December 2024 and stood at 3,108,760 affiliations, according to provisional data. By counties, those with the highest relative increases were La Segarra (5.8%), Les Garrigues and El Lluçanès (5.2% both). On the other hand, El Priorat (−1.9%) and La Ribera d'Ebre (−1.2%) are the counties that recorded the largest decreases. The highest increases in absolute terms were recorded in El Barcelonès (36,245 affiliations), El Baix Llobregat (6,325 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (4,795 affiliations) and El Gironès (4,350 affiliations). On the contrary, the counties that showed the largest decreases in absolute terms were El Pla de l’Estany and La Ribera d’Ebre (−40 affiliations both) and El Priorat (−30 affiliations).
The number of self-employed workers carrying out economic activities in Catalonia rose by 1.3% year-over-year to 567,235 affiliations. The counties that recorded the greatest increase in relative terms were El Baix Penedès (3.4%), La Selva (2.4%) and El Barcelonès (2.3%). In absolute numbers, the growth was led by El Barcelonès (4,060 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (575 affiliations) and El Vallès Oriental (420 affiliations). On the other hand, the counties with the largest relative decreases were L'Alta Ribagorça (−3.1%), La Terra Alta and La Ribera d’Ebre (−3.0% both), and the largest decreases in absolute terms were El Segrià (−180 affiliations), El Bages (−90 affiliations) and L’Urgell (−55 affiliations).
The number of contribution accounts to the Social Security General Regime in Catalonia increased by 0.3% year-over-year (827 contribution accounts) to 245,610 accounts. The counties that led the rise in relative numbers were La Ribera d’Ebre (3.2%), La Noguera (2.8%) and La Cerdanya (1.4%). In absolute numbers, the counties that recorded the largest growths were El Barcelonès (743 accounts), El Bages (65 accounts) and El Garraf (39 accounts). On the other hand, the counties that recorded the highest drops in absolute terms were El Baix Camp (−31 accounts), El Ripollès (−29 accounts) and El Pla de l’Estany (−28 accounts) and the highest drops in relative terms were El Ripollès and El Pallars Jussà (−3.2% each) and El Priorat and El Pla de l’Estany (−2.3% both).
