Longitudinal Statistics on Working Lives. 2019-2023

The number of people in Catalonia who had some sort of administrative relationship with Social Security (whether as contributors, pensioners or residents) was 5,957,250 in 2023. Of these, 4,333,675 were registered for paid employment for at least one day, a figure which is 2.6% more than the previous year. Of these 4,333,675 people, 2,704,375 were registered for paid employment all year, 6.7% more than in 2022.

The number of people that received an unemployment benefit or subsidy for at least one day was 646,828 in 2023, a figure which represents a decrease of 9.7% compared to 2022. Of these people, 57,650 were beneficiaries all year. As for the receipt of contributory pensions, 1,647,300 people were beneficiaries at some point during the year and, of these, 1,428,375 were beneficiaries all year.
