Statistics on Foreign Tourism. 12/2024 and year 2024. Provisional data

The number of foreign tourists arriving in Catalonia stood at 1.1 million in December 2024, which represents a year-over-year increase of 5.2%. By country of habitual residence, the countries from which the majority of tourists came were France, Italy and the United Kingdom, with 254.8, 89.8 and 71.5 thausend tourists, respectively).

By reason for travelling, leisure trips, trips for other reasons (health, studies, family, etc.) and business trips increased by 4.8%, by 9.4% and by 1.1%, respectively. As for the principal type of accommodation, hotels and similar increased by 0.7% and homes of relatives or friends by 21.9%.

In 2024, the number of foreign tourists arriving in Catalonia increased by 9.7% compared with 2023, and stood at 19.9 million, according to provisional data. By country of habitual residence, the countries from which the majority of tourists came, France, United Kingdom and the United States, registered increases (4.8%, 5.2% and 17.8%, respectively).

Data on foreign tourism expenditure have been further disaggregated and Austria, Turkey, Mexico, Chile, South Korea and Morocco have been added to the annual data for 2016-2024.
