Industrial Production Index. 12/2024 and 2024. Provisional data

The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days decreased by 3.7% year-over-year in Catalonia in December 2024. By large industrial sectors, energy fell by 9.9%, consumer goods by 6.0% and intermediate goods by 2.3% and, on the other hand, increased capital goods by 4.0%.

In December 2024, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy) increased by 4.9% compared with the same month of the previous year. The Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) increased by 2.7% year-over-year. By large industrial sectors there were increases in capital goods (12.1%), intermediate goods (3.4%) and consumer goods (1.1%), while energy (−9.7%) decreased.

Moreover, by industrial divisions the most significant increases were registered in manufacture of transport material(18.8%), and in manufacture of machinery and mechanical equipment (7.1%). By contrast, production decreased in Paper, graphic arts and recorded media industries (−4.1) and in electrical, electronic and optical materials and equipment (−2.5).

In 2024, the annual average of the industrial production index increased by 3.4%, according to provisional data. By large industrial sectors, there were increases in consumer goods (4.6%), capital goods (4.6%) and intermediate goods (2.9%), while decreased energy (−0.3). By sections of the CCAE-2009, the highlighted the increase in the manufacturing industries of electrical, electronic and optical materials and equipment (18.7%) and the manufacture of pharmaceutical products (13.6%); on the other hand, the manufacture of machinery and mechanical equipment decreased (−2.5%)
