Tourism of Residents in Catalonia. Q4/2024 and 2024

The number of trips made by Catalans decreased by 5.8% in the fourth quarter 2024. People residing in Catalonia made 6.3 million trips, involving 20.5 million overnight stays, an average stay being 3.3 nights, and an expenditure of 2,253 million euros.

The expenditure of Catalans on trips in the fourth quarter came to 358 euros per person, which represents an increase of 12.0% in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2023, an expenditure of 110 euros per day, which represents an increase of 16.8%.

The number of day trips made by people residing in Catalonia stood at 9.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2024, 12.0% more than in the same quarter of the previous year.

In 2024 the number of trips made by Catalans increased by 2.2%. According to the main destination of the trip, 56.8% of the trips of the Catalans were made in Catalonia (with an annual increase of 1.8%); 25.8% went to the rest of the State (decrease of 1.0%) and 17.4% to foreign countries (increase of 8.5%). The total amount of expenditure by Catalan travellers grew by 8.4% and the daily average expenditure per person by 5.1%.
