Statistics on Salaried Employment and Self-Employment according to Social Security Affiliations. 03/2025. Provisional data
The number of affiliations to the Social Security General Regime with location of the contribution account in Catalonia increased by 1.5% year-over-year in March 2025 and stood at 3,139,605 affiliations, according to provisional data. By counties, those with the highest relative increases were El Lluçanès (6.2%), El Pla d'Urgell (4.7%) and El Bages (4.5%). On the other hand, El Pallars Sobirà (−9.5%), El Baix Empordà (−5.3%) and Aran (−5.2%) are the counties that recorded the largest decreases. The highest increases in absolute terms were recorded in El Barcelonès (31,300 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (5,700 affiliations) and El Baix Llobregat (5,360 affiliations). On the contrary, El Maresme (−3,565 affiliations) and El Tarragonès (−3,000 affiliations) showed the largest decreases in absolute terms.
The number of self-employed workers carrying out economic activities in Catalonia rose by 0.7% year-over-year to 566,465 affiliations. The counties that have recorded the greatest increase in relative terms are El Baix Penedès (3.2%), El Barcelonès (1.6%) and El Gironès (1.5%). In absolute numbers, the growth was led by El Barcelonès (2,740 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (490 affiliations), El Maresme (260 affiliations) and El Vallès Oriental (235 affiliations). On the other hand, La Ribera d'Ebre (−4.4%), L'Alta Ribagorça (−3.2%) and El Pallars Sobirà (−3.0%) are the counties with the largest relative decreases, and El Segrià (−190 affiliations), L'Alt Empordà (−100 affiliations), El Bages (−85 affiliations) and La Ribera d'Ebre (−75 affiliations) dis so in absolute terms.
The number of contribution accounts to the Social Security General Regime in Catalonia decreased by 0.6% year-over-year (−1,437 contribution accounts) to 246,162 accounts. The counties that have led the growth in relative numbers are La Noguera (1.7%), La Ribera d'Ebre (1.2%) and La Segarra (0.8%). In absolute numbers, El Barcelonès (182 accounts), El Bages (32 accounts) and La Noguera (23 accounts) are the counties that recorded the highest growths in absolute terms. On the other hand, el Tarragonès (−235 accounts), El Baix Empordà (−228 accounts), El Baix Camp (−197 accounts) and L'Alt Empordà (−188 accounts) are the counties that recorded the largest drops in absolute terms.
