Statistics on Hotel Activity. 03/2025

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia decreased by 11.5% year-over-year in March2025, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays decreased by 16.5%: of these, those of Catalan travellers decreased by 31.6% and travellers from the rest of Spain decreased by 0.1% year-over-year. Foreign tourism overnight stays decreased by 8.8% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from United States, France and the United Kingdom show the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (274.0, 241.4 and 168.2 thousand, respectively), with a negative year-over-year variation (−7.8%), (−10.6%) and (−17.0%), respectively.

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Barcelona and Costa Brava were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (1.8 million, 510.3 and 430.0 thousand, respectively) with negative year-over-year variations (−5.9%), (−13.3%) and (−7.5%), respectively.

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments decreased by 7.6% year-over-year, with an decrease in domestic tourism by 13.1% and in foreign tourism by 3.9%.

It is worth noting that the Mobile World Congress dis take place in March not in February as last year.
