Industrial Production Index. 05/2025

The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days (base=100) increased by 0.6% year-over-year in Catalonia in May 2025. By large industrial sectors, there was a increase in consumer goods by 5.7% and energy by 4.8%, while intermediate goods decreased by 4.4% and capital goods by 1.1%.

In May 2025, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy and is not adjusted by working days) decreased by 2.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and the Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) by 2.2% year-over-year. By large industrial sectors, energy increased (4.0%) and consumer goods increased too (2.6%), while decreased in intermediate goods (−6.9%) and capital goods (−4.3%).

Finally, by industrial divisions the higher decreases are in the manufacture of rubber products and plastic materials (−11.5%) and the chemical industries (−10.9%); however, the most significant increases are in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products (14.9%) and food and beverage industries (1.2%).
