Contributors and Affiliations to Social Security based on Contributors' Registered Place of Residence. 06/2025
The number of Social Security contributors in Catalonia increased by 39,645 people in June 2025, a figure that represents an increase of 1.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, to stand at 3,697,730 people, according to provisional data. Members increased in 36 counties and Aran, led by Les Garrigues and Baix Penedès (2.9%, each), followed by L'Alta Ribagorça and La Selva (1.9%, each). At the other extreme, there are six counties where the number of members has decreased, with the highest decreases in Terra Alta (−1.8%) and El Priorat (−0.9).
Compared to May, the number of contributors decreased in Catalonia as a whole by 4,885 people (−0.1%) and has done so in 15 counties, led by La Ribera d'Ebre (−2.4%) and El Priorat (−0.9%). On the other hand, the highest increases were in Aran (8.8%) and L'Alta Ribagorça (6.6%).
By gender, and compared to a year ago, the number of women Social Security contributors in Catalonia as a whole rose by 17,140 people and the number of men by 22,500. This represents year-over-year increases of 1.0% and 1.2%, respectively.
In Catalonia as a whole, all age groups increased the number of contributors, except for the 30 to 44 age group which fell by 1.2%. Contributors aged 55 and over increased the most (3.8%) and did so in 37 counties and Aran. The main growth were registered in El Baix Penedès (6.2%) and La Segarra (6.1%).
Contributors of foreign nationality increase in Catalonia as a whole by 4.1% compared to the same month of the previous year and did so throughout the territory except in La Terra Alta (−4.8%) and El Pallars Sobirà where they remained stable. Contributors of Spanish nationality increased in Catalonia as a whole, by 0.4%, and also in 30 counties.
Affiliations in the services sector were up by 1.1% year-over-year, and grew in 37 counties and Aran. In industry, affiliations increased by 0.3% in Catalonia as a whole and have also did so in 26 counties and Aran. In the case of construction, the rise was 1.9%, the highest increase of all sectors, and grew in 30 counties. Agriculture has registered 1,400 fewer affiliations than a year ago (−2.3%).
By type of working day, 19.2% of employee affiliations in June were part-time. In the case of women, the proportion was 26.1%, more than double the figure for men (12.5%).
In terms of temporary contracts, the proportion of Social Security affiliations for temporary employment stood at 10.6%. The counties with the highest level of temporary employment were La Ribera d'Ebre (14.3%), L'Alta Ribagorça (14.2%) and El Pallars Sobirà (14.1%), while El Baix Empordà had the lowest level (7.5%).
