Foreign Trade according to Technological Content. Q2/2025

Catalonia exported industrial products worth 24,782.5 million euros in the second quarter of 2025, representing a decrease of 0.2% compared to the same quarter in the previous year. All groups of industrial products according to effort in research and development (R&D) showed mixed results. Foreign sales with high-tech content increased by 24.5% year over year (3,531.4 million euros) and those with low-tech content by 3.2%; in contrast, medium high-level (−5.8%) and medium low-level (−6.6%) sales fell.

Catalonia imported industrial products worth 26,627.8 million euros in the second quarter of 2025, representing an increase of 1.5% compared to the same quarter in the previous year. Foreign purchases showed increases at all technology levels, except for the medium high-tech content. Imports of high-tech content products rose by 7.7% year over year, medium low-level imports by 1.9% and low-level imports by 4.9%. In contrast, medium high-level purchases fell by 1.9%.
