Announcement of the XXIII Student Contest on Applied Statistics (UAB-Idescat)
The twentieth third edition of the Student Contest on Applied Statistics has been announced. This Contest is organised annually by the Statistics Service at the Autonomous University of Barcelona with the collaboration of the Statistical Institute of Catalonia and aims to foster interest and research spirit among university students in Spain in the field of statistics.
The Contest constitutes the main action to promote research among future professionals or users of public statistics, along with the Surveys and Experiments Contest for secondary school pupils, the sixteenth edition of which was held this year.
The Contest includes three awards: the Idescat Award for the best Master’s thesis, the SEA -Anna Espinal Award for the best Bachelor’s thesis and the Almirall Award for the best paper in biostatistical. The winners will also enjoy one year of free membership in the Catalan Statistics Society. The deadline for submitting papers is 28 September 2025. The awards ceremony will be held as part of the Statistics Day in Catalonia (20 October 2025).
