Catalonia Statistics Day 2025 - World Statistics Day

On 20 October, coinciding with the World Statistics Day (promoted by the United Nations), Catalonia Statistics Day 2025 will be held. This event, convened by the Catalan Statistical Society, is organized this year by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and will take place in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Science of this university (building C, floor -1, Bellaterra, starting at 9:00 h).

Held since 2001, the Catalonia Statistics Day is a meeting point for the country’s statistical community, aimed at discussing topics of common interest from the academic, institutional and professional perspectives. The programme for this year's edition is now available and includes the awards ceremony for the XXIII Student Competition in Applied Statistics, organised by the Applied Statistics Service of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Idescat.

This year’s celebration coincides with the World Statistics Day, which takes place every five years, a date to highlight the key role of statistics in knowledge development and decision-making. The theme for this year is “Quality Statistics and Data for All”. To commemorate the occasion, the Autonomous University of Barcelona has scheduled the following activities:

  • Statistical Short Course "Dependent censoring in survival analysis: from basic concepts to some recent advances based on copulas ", organised by the journal SORT, Idescat and the Catalan Statistical Society (15 October, from 10:00 h 13:30 h)
  • Workshops Power BI. Four parallel sessions (17 October, from 15:30 h to 19:30 h)
  • Power BI Days – Barcelona (18 October, from 8:30 h to 19:15 h)
  • Catalonia Statistics Day 2025 (20 October, from 9:00 h to 14:00 h)
