Statistics on Hotel Activity. 09/2025
The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia decreased slightly by 0.2% year-over-year in September 2025, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays decreased by 0.6%: of these, those of Catalan travellers decreased by 6.6% and travellers from the rest of Spain increased by 6.9% year-over-year. Foreign tourism overnight stays decreased by 0.1% year-over-year.
By country of origin, tourists from the United Kingdom, France and United States show the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (878.9, 660.7 and 423.6 thousand, respectively), with a positive year-on-year variation in United States (5.6%) and negative variations in the United Kingdom (−1.9) and France (−5.0%).
By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Brava and Costa Barcelona were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (851.9, 481.3 and 378.3 thousand, respectively) with positive year-on-year variations in Barcelona (3.9%) and Costa Brava (4.6%) and negative in Costa Barcelona (−7.0%).
On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments increased by 3.9% year-over-year, with an increase in domestic tourism by 3.2% and in foreign tourism by 4.2%.
