Seventy-one point nine per cent of the population aged 10 or over continued to reside in the same municipality and 28.1 per cent immigrated in relation to migration in the 10 years prior to the 1970 census.

Idescat includes in the Demographic Historical Series the census data on the population according to migration corresponding to the 1970 population census, referring to the place of residence of the population on 31 December 1960. The results are provided by province of destination of the population according to sex and by large age groups.

In terms of the population that had immigrated, the provinces leading the ranking were Barcelona (286,767 people), Córdoba (60,654 people), Granada (56,388 people), Jaén (52,885 people) and Badajoz (49,112 people).

Data are also provided on internal migration (within Catalonia and with the rest of Spain) and external migration (immigration and emigration to European and non-European countries) broken down by province for the period 1961 to 1970.
