Idescat published official population figures for Catalan municipalities by sex, referring to 1 January 2025, resulting from the revision of the Municipal Population Register.

Starting in 2023, the Municipal Population Register only offers the population figure by sex for the municipalities, the counties and Aran and the provinces. In the official Catalan statistics, the Annual Population Census and the Population Estimates become the reference sources for the population at all territorial levels, except in cases where the use of the registered population is expressly required according to the procedure protected by Law 7/1985, of 2 April, regulating the bases of the local regime (LBRL) and the Regulation of population and territorial demarcation for local entities (RPDT).

The census figures with reference to 1 January 2025 are effective as of 31 December 2025 and have been published in Royal Decree 1117/2025 of 3 December, which makes official the population figures resulting from the revision of the Municipal Population Register referring to 1 January 2025.
