Idescat disseminates the definitive data dwellings by intensity of use and electricity consumption from the 2021 Population and Housing Census.

A total of 417,652 homes are classified as empty due to having a consumption below a minimum municipal threshold (equivalent to consumption for 15 days per year). 107,002 homes are of very low use (electricity consumption between the minimum threshold and 250 kWh, equivalent to occupancy for one month). 322,149 homes are of occasional use (consumption between 251 and 750 kWh, equivalent to occupancy for one to three months) and 3,068,324 are of regular use (consumption greater than 750 kWh).
