Statistics on Hotel Activity. 12/2025 and year 2025. Provisional data

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 7.2% year over year in December 2025, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays increased by 6.0%: of these, those of Catalan travellers decreased by 3.9% and travellers from the rest of Spain increased by 18.3% year over year. Foreign tourism overnight stays increased by 7.8% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from France, United States and Italy and show the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (215.7, 157.6 and 157.1 thousand, respectively), with positive year-over-year variations in France (2.9%), United States (1.9%) and tItaly (10.0%).

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Barcelona and Costa Brava were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (1.6 million, 367.4 and 215.6 thousand, respectively) with positive year-over-year variations in Barcelona (5.2%), Costa Barcelona (8.6%) and Costa Brava (8.6%)..

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments increased by 9.2% year over year, with an increase in domestic tourism by 4.8% and in foreign tourism by 12.7%.

In 2025, overnight stays in hotel establishments increased by 0.4% in Catalonia according to provisional data from the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Overnight stays by domestic tourists increased by 1.2% in comparison with the previous year (−4.4% for Catalan tourists and 7.7% for tourists from other parts of Spain), and foreign tourism increased by 0.1%. By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Brava and Costa Barcelona registered the higher number of overnight stays (23.1, 12.3 and 11.0 million respectively). In 2025 the room occupancy rate in Catalonia was 71.5%. The number of travellers increased by 4.6% in comparison with 2024.
