Industrial Production Index. 12/2025 and 2025. Provisional data

The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days increased by 1.5% year-over-year in Catalonia in December 2025. By large industrial sectors, energy rose by 7.9%, consumer goods by 2.5% and intermediate goods by 2.2% and, on the other hand, decreased capital goods by 1.9%.

In December 2025, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy) increased by 4.7% compared with the same month of the previous year. The Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) increased by 5.2% year-over-year. By large industrial sectors, all of them grew: energy (8.9%), consumer goods (6.9%), intermediate goods (4.9%) and capital goods (1.9%).

Moreover, by industrial divisions the most significant increases were registered in the paper, graphic arts and recorded media industries (47.3%) and the manufacture of rubber products and plastic materials (11.3%); in contrast, the most notable decreases were in manufacture of basic metals and metal products (−8.8%) and in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products (−5.4%).

In 2025, the annual average of the industrial production index increased by 0.5%, according to provisional data. By large industrial sectors, there were increases in energy (2.0%), consumer goods (1.0%), and capital goods (0.5%); on the other hand, intermediate goods decreased (−0.4%). By sections of the CCAE-2009, there highlighted the increases in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products (6.0%) and the manufacture of machinery and mechanical equipment (4.2%); on the other hand, the most significant decreases were registered in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (−8.8%) and the textile, clothing, leather, and footwear industries (−5.7%).
