Statistics on Labour Cost and Vacancies. Q4/2025
The labour cost per worker and month stood at 3,590.14 euros in Catalonia as of the fourth quarter of 2025, 3.1% more than the same quarter in 2024. The number of job vacancies stood at 28,431, 0.9% less than a year earlier.
Labour Cost
The labour cost per worker and month stood at 3,590.14 euros in Catalonia as of the fourth quarter of 2025, 3.1% more than the same quarter in 2024. For specific sectors, the labour cost per worker and month in the ICT sector was 5,619.31 euros, 4.5% less than a year ago, while the culture sector rose a 1.3% and stood at 3,957.94 euros, and the tourism sector increased by 1.2% compared to the same quarter of 2024, with a labour cost of 2,697.78 euros per worker and month. Within the tourism sector, the highest labour cost was recorded by the tourism transport subsector (4,090.34 euros). In the culture sector, the audiovisual and advertising subsector is the one with the highest labor cost (4,327.61 euros).
The wage cost per worker and month increased by 2.5% in Catalonia and reached 2,686.98 euros. The wage cost in the ICT sector was 4,330.89 euros (−7.0% year-over-year), in the culture sector 3,006.49 euros (0.9%) and in tourism sector 1,989.31 euros (0.6%).
By effective hour, the labour cost was 28.00 euros, and the wage cost 20.95 euros. In the analysed specific sectors, ICT sector had the highest effective wage cost per hour (29.79 euros), followed by the cultural (22.64 euros) and tourism (16.85 euros) sectors.
Job vacancies
In the fourth quarter of 2025, the number of job vacancies stood at 28,431, 0.9% less than a year earlier.
As for industry, compared with the same quarter of the previous year, the number of vacancies increased in Metallurgy, machinery, electrical and transport equipment (55.9%; from 764 to 1,191) and in food, textiles, wood, paper, and graphic arts (42.9%; from 827 to 1,182), on the other hand, it decreased in chemicals and rubber (−8.9%; from 463 to 422). As for services, the year-on-year increase in the number of vacant jobs in public administration, defense, and compulsory social security (38.9%; from 5,629 to 7,818) and in education, health, and social services (30.1%; from 2,659 to 3,459) stood out. In contrast, the most notable decreases in relative terms were in transport, storage, and hospitality (−60.5%; from 3,370 to 1,331) and in cultural and sports activities, and other services (−30.0%; from 876 to 613).
