The value of exports of Catalonia was 7,401.9 M€ in January 2026, a figure that represents a year over year decrease of 6.7%. Imports, with a value of 8,722.4 M€, decreased by 7.1%.
As for exports by economic destination, intermediate goods decreased by 9.4% and consumer goods by 3.8%; on the other hand, capital goods increased by 0.5%. By geographical area, they decreased in America by 17.6%, in the European Union by 7.6%, in Asia by 4.3%, and in the rest of the world by 0.1%; however, sales increased in other European countries and territories (non-EU) by 2.9%.
By branches of economic activity, the decreases in sales of energy products, oil extraction and refining (−30.4%; −67.5 M€) and metallurgy and metal products (−13.2%; −60.2 M€) are noteworthy. On the other hand, the growth in sales of motor vehicles and other transport equipment (5.1%; 56.9 M€) stands out.
As for imports by economic destination, intermediate goods decreased by 11.5% and consumer goods by 1.1%; on the other hand, capital goods increased by 3.3%. By geographical area, purchases decreased by 19.6% in America, by 12.0% in other countries and territories of Europe (non-EU), by 6.8% in Asia and by 4.7% in the European Union; on the other hand, they increased by 0.2% in the rest of the world.
By branches of economic activity, the decreases in purchases in crop and animal production, hunting, fishing and aquaculture (−21.2%; −123.2 M€), in textiles, manufacture of wearing apparel, leather and footwear (−21.0%; −198.3 M€), and in the chemical industries (−16.7%; −349.8 M€) is noteworthy. On the other hand, the growth in purchases of motor vehicles and other transport equipment (18.7%; 257.7 M€) stands out.
