Statistics on Hotel Activity. 03/2026

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 9.1% year over year in March 2026, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays grew by 12.8%: of these, those of Catalan travellers increased by 16.9% and travellers from the rest of Spain by 9.8% year over year. Foreign tourism overnight stays increased by 7.3% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from United States, France and United Kingdom show the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (292.5, 280.9 and 193.1 thousand, respectively), with a positive year-over-year variations in United States (7.3%), France (18.5) and United Kingdom (12.5%).

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Barcelona and Costa Brava were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (1.9 million, 584.7 and 474.1 thousand, respectively) with positive year-over-year variations in Barcelona (3.0%), Costa Barcelona (14.5%) and Costa Brava (12.9%).

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments increased by 12.6% year over year, with an increase in domestic tourism by 16.8% and in foreign tourism by 10.1%.
