22nd Statistics Days of the Autonomous Communities to be held in Barcelona

JECAS

The 22nd Statistics Days of the Autonomous Communities (JECAS), organised by Idescat, will take place on 7 and 8 May 2026 in Barcelona, with the aim of analysing the current and future challenges facing official statistics at the regional level. The event will be opened by the Minister for Economy and Finance of the Government of Catalonia, Alícia Romero Llano.

Under the theme “The evaluation of public policies and other challenges for official statistics in the coming years”, the JECAS serve as a forum for scientific and technical exchange among the institutions responsible for regional official statistics in Spain. The aim is to share ideas, approaches and experiences across all areas of official statistics. The Statistics Days are also an opportunity for the statistical offices of the autonomous communities to present innovative results, from both a methodological and an applied perspective, and to exchange views with other experts.

The JECAS 2026 programme is structured over two days, combining lectures, parallel thematic sessions and discussion forums on the main areas of official statistics. It includes sessions dedicated to current challenges (such as artificial intelligence, demographics and migrations, municipal statistics, the environment, housing and macroeconomics) as well as paper sessions by the statistical offices of the autonomous communities on economic, demographic and social statistics, dissemination tools and methodological developments. The programme also features a roundtable on access to microdata for research and for the evaluation of public policies through Datalab services.
