Foreign Trade according to Technological Content. Q1/2026

Catalonia exported industrial products worth 23,358.3 million euros in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 2.0% decrease compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The grouping of industrial products by research and development (R&D) intensity shows that sales of industrial products abroad decreased across all technology levels, except for the medium low-technology level. High-technology level products decreased by 7.3%, medium high-technology level products by 2.7% and low-technology level products by 4.3%. In contrast, medium low-technology level sales increased by 11.2%.

Catalonia imported industrial products worth 25,480.2 million euros in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 2.6% decrease compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Purchases abroad for all technology levels showed decreases, except for the medium high-technology level (3.1%). High-technology imports decreased by 10.4%, medium low-technology level imports by 5.2% and low-technology level imports by 8.0%.
