Statistics on Hotel Activity. 04/2026

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 1.7% year over year in April 2026, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays grew by 7.2%: of these, those of Catalan travellers increased by 5.5% and travellers from the rest of Spain by 8.9% year over year. Foreign tourism overnight stays decreased by 0.6% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from France, the United Kingdom and United States show the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (625.4, 393.7 and 343.4 thousand, respectively), with a positive year-over-year variation in France (3.9%) and United Kingdom (4,5%) and negative in United States (−2,5%).

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Brava and Costa Daurada were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (2.1, 1.0 million, and 911.3 thousand, respectively) with positive year-over-year variations in Barcelona (0.3%), Costa Brava (1.4%) and Costa Daurada (10.5%).

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments increased by 1.5% year over year, with an increase in domestic tourism by 5.9% and a decrease in foreign tourism by 0.9%.
