The network of Central Statistical Bodies of the Autonomous Communities holds its second plenary meeting of the year

On 26 May, the network of Central Statistical Bodies of the Autonomous Communities held its second plenary meeting of the year chaired by Idescat, focusing on the follow-up of the technical working groups, as well as on issues related to interoperability, statistical collaboration, and new coordination initiatives among statistical bodies.
Within the framework of relations with the National Statistical System, various strategic issues were also addressed, including the prior public consultation on the draft bill amending the Law on the Public Statistical Function, the new committee on statistical interoperability, the analysis of proposals relating to collaboration between the INE and the autonomous communities in sample-based statistical operations, as well as the objectives and content of a future edition of the INE-OCECA Conference scheduled for 2027.
zDuring the session, institutional updates from the various participating bodies were also shared, and the work carried out by the different technical groups was highlighted in areas such as data protection, Sustainable Development Goal indicators, energy estimates, tourism, new statistical uses of tax information, demographic statistics and trade flows between autonomous communities.
Finally, a very positive assessment was made of the Statistics Days of the Autonomous Communities (JECAS), held in Barcelona on 7 and 8 May 2026.
zThe network of Central Statistical Bodies of the Autonomous Communities aims primarily to strengthen coordination between the regional statistical bodies and to promote joint initiatives that contribute to improving the production and availability of regional official statistics.
