Publication of the aggregate of non-core CPI components

Idescat complements the information it publishes on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) by incorporating the aggregate of non-core inflation components. This indicator groups unprocessed food and energy products.

The incorporation of the non-core inflation aggregate facilitates the analysis of inflation trends. Its components, that is unprocessed food and energy products, are characterised by greater price volatility and have a direct impact on daily household expenditure, especially in essential areas such as food, electricity, gas or fuels.

This new aggregate complements the information already available on core inflation and provides a more comprehensive view of the different components that affect price trends.

With this new information, users have additional tools to analyse inflation trends and differentiate price changes associated with more volatile factors from those responding to more structural economy trends.
